Dr. James Kowalick, Innovator and Inventor, and Founder of Innovative Patent Technology, Inc.
Forbes Magazine’s Editor recently called Dr. James Kowalick, IPT’s founder, ‘one of the most brilliant inventors alive today.’ His accomplishments – for which he has been cited over 500 times - are universally recognized by Forbes-1000 companies.
His discovery of Higher-Level Thinking TM led to the breakthrough-level intellectual property and invention algorithms which are changing the way that companies are inventing new products – as well as improving existing products.
Dr. Kowalick has been affiliated with Cal Tech (The California Institute of Technology at Pasadena, California) for sixteen years as Invited Guest Lecturer to Corporate Executives – whose companies have filed hundreds of patent applications based on his consulting assistance on company-wide intellectual-property projects. He personally holds fifteen high-level defense patents – a few related to atomic and hydrogen bomb development following the Manhattan Project.
In 1986 Dr. Kowalick introduced Dr. Genichi Taguchi’s approach to Kowalick’s U.S. clients, applying the approach over 300 times to optimize the performance of a range of different types of products. He learned the approach directly from Dr. Taguchi, and has been cited for this work by numerous awards.
Then in 1992 Dr. Kowalick brought TRIZ (the former-USSR creative approach called “Theory of the Solution of Inventive-Type Problems) to the United States, Western Europe and South Korea. He traveled extensively in Russia and he ‘westernized’ the approach, making it more palatable for western countries. With Dr. Domb, he co-founded the TRIZ Journal on the Internet – the site was recently featured in Business Week (Sept. 25, page 4, Innovation supplement). This website is read monthly by 80,000 readers, many of whom are Intellectual Property professionals. The 10-year-old site’s archives include hundreds of TRIZ articles, including some of Dr. Kowalick’s ‘foundational’ tutorials.
Just last year, Dr. Kowalick applied Higher-Level-Thinking and Taguchi Methods to marketing and advertising. The May, 2005 issue of Forbes Magazine devoted two pages (in its Marketing section) to this breakthrough, saying that ‘this will change advertising and marketing forever.’
As an author of several books and hundreds of technical articles and papers, Dr. Kowalick is sought after for Keynote addresses at conferences and symposia. He is the recipient of prestigious awards and honors He holds four academic degrees in engineering and science: B.S. degree in Engineering from Lehigh University, two M.S. degrees in science and engineering from Drexel University, and a Ph.D. from Drexel U. as well. He graduated first in the well-known Mt. Fuji School for Presidents and CEOs (Kanreisha Yosei Gakko, Japan), also affectionately known as ‘Hell Camp.”
